Irène McIntyre

The passing of Irene (Albert) McIntyre from (Charlo) Campbellton, NB, wife of Jean-Paul McIntyre, occurred on January 8th, 2020 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. Born on November 18, 1937 in Drummond, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Albert and Anna Ouellette.

Irene is survived by her husband (Jean-Paul), sons Jean-Paul Jr (Theresa Furlong) and Pierre (Marie Josée Gauvin), sisters Géraldine (Léonide Desjardins), Patricia (Jean-Guy Finn) Anne and Thérèse (Richard Gallant) as well as brothers Lucien (Lise Poulin) and Adrien (Rita Belanger). She was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Roger. She is also remembered by her in-laws in the McIntyre family as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Irene had a successful career in education both as a classroom teacher and as a senior advisor/administrator in the New Brunswick school system. She also assisted in preparing future educators through her part-time teaching at the Faculty of Education of l’Université de Moncton. The oldest of nine children she was confidant, role model, trusted advisor and friend to her siblings. Irene was a devoted grandmother to Eleana, Émilie Chloé and Jordan, loving mother, wife and caring sister.

Irene’s family would like to thank the many friends and former workplace colleagues who visited her during her long stay in hospital. The family also thanks the staff at the Campbellton regional hospital for their loving care and friendship.

Visitation will take place at Savoie Funeral Home, 47 Alexander St in Campbellton, NB on Friday, January 10th, 2020 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at St-François-Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Charlo at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, January 11th.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Parkinson Atlantic Canada or to a charity of your choice.
